{25} Days of Holiday Hullabaloo! Day 1 & 2

Hola!

Our Activities got a little out of wack already, but we will not be deterred! My original goal was to make an advent calendar on Day 1 with my girls, but due to the rush of recent scheduled activities (Out side of our home) I have not had time to do that yet!! Ahhh! How can you do advent calendar activities without a calendar?!?

We will get to that part, but for now we are just trying to keep our heads above water! We have had a different activity we were obligated to participate in every day for the last week and a half! Tonight we have a community Christmas parade with a bazaar to follow. My girls are in two different floats and then they are vendors in the bazaar! KK is selling her feather hair clips she has been making and selling to all of her little friends. She has been quite successful so far! She sells them for $1.00 each and has made over $20.00 so far! Ash wanted to get in on the selling action too, so she is selling hot cocoa with a variety of toppings (such as mini marshmallows, homemade whipped cream, cinnamon, and sprinkles!) and homemade (and cutely decorated) gingerbread cookies to go with them!

Which brings us to our Day 1 activity! Ash and I made ginger bread cookies! They turned out really cute! We rolled out the dough and cut out Christmas shapes then iced them with royal icing and stuck on M&M's!  We packaged them two to a little baggie and tied a cute ribbon on top! Not the most original activity, but fun none the less! The royal icing dries hard so you don't have to worry about it getting messed up when packaged!

I encourage you to make some of these gingerbread cookies with your kiddos and take them to someone who needs some Christmas cheer this year!  Here is the recipe for the royal icing!

Royal Icing

Ingredients

  • 1 pound confectioners' sugar
  • 5 tablespoons meringue powder
  • Scant 1/2 cup water

Directions

  1. Beat ingredients in a mixer bowl on low speed until smooth, about 7 minutes. If icing is too thick, add more water; if too thin, beat 2 to 3 minutes more.

For Day 2 we watched a movie while making feather hair clips for KK to sell. We watched the Nutcracker Ballet! Since I have two aspiring ballerinas here at home it was well received! So cuddle up with your family and break out your favorite Christmas movie!

Singing out for now {I'll be back for day three later tonight!}
